Frequently Asked Questions - International Applicants


As of Fall 2009 all international applicants must have their academic credentials evaluated by AACRAO. This includes all secondary academic transcripts for freshman admission and credit-for-credit evaluation for transfers.   • Summary of Educational Experiences and Confidential Financial Information Form
  • Official bank statement
  • Copy of your current visa, if you reside at attend school in the United States.
  • Original transcripts/examination results for all secondary and post-secondary work (or copies attested by the U.S. Embassy, a notary public, or a school official) and official English translations.   • Official TOEFL score report or official IELTS report
  • Official SAT score report (if you are applying for freshman admission and attend school in the United States)
  • Application fee of US$75

There are no minimum GPA or SAT score requirements for admissions. The admissions committee evaluates the entire application for admissibility into Undergraduate study. International students should be eligible for post-secondary study in their country. International students are required to meet the minimum English Language Proficiency Scores (TOEFLibt 80, TOEFLpbt 550, IELTS 6.5).

The minimum TOEFL score required is 80 (TOEFLibt) or 550 (paper). We no longer accept scores from the computer-based test. Nursing major applicants must have a minimum TOEFL score of 100 (TOEFLibt) or 600 (paper).

The minimum IELTS score required is 6.5.

International applicants attending high school in the United States are required to take the SAT exam.

International Freshman Deadline is December 1, 2009. Applicants will be notified on a continuing basis in December via email.

International Transfer Deadline for Spring 2010 semester is November 1, 2009. Applicants will be notified on a continuing basis in December via email.

International Transfer Deadline for Fall 2010 semester is May 1, 2010. Applicants will be notifiied on a continuing basis in June via email.

If you do not have U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency you are required to complete the international application for admissions.

If you are currently in the United States on a Visa please submit a copy of that Visa with the application.

If you are in the proces of applying for Permanent Residency, please submit a copy of your Permanent Residency Approval Notice Form from U.S. Immigration in lieu of financial documents.

 

 

International applicants applying for fall freshman admissions will be considered for merit scholarships provided they meet the priority admissions application deadline of December 1. However, international applicants are not eligible for need-based financial aid. Merit scholarships are not available to any student applying as a transfer student.

Acknowledgement letters will be sent out to all applicants on an ongoing basis. To check the status of your application, please visit http://www.udel.edu/checkyourstatus. Although you may have sent us all of your materials, it may take one to three weeks for us to place all of your materials into your application file and update your status on the website. We appreciate your patience. Please understand that we will contact you if we require additional documents from you. You will have ample time to send us all missing materials before we evaluate your application.
