Great Work

A few weeks ago I receive an email from the chair of my major asking for anyone who was interested in helping serve at a party.  I quickly emailed her back saying Erin and myself were interested.  Lets just say it was the easiest money I ever made.  We got there at about 11 and we just helped set the food up, that they had already cooked.  Then throughout the party we just walked around, picked up empty plates and cups and kept an eye on the food to make sure there was enough on the plate.

Blue Hen Jobs

One of a great way to find a full time job, an internship or a part time job is to make an account on blue hen jobs.  You can find this link on the career services page on www.udel.edu.  On this website you an make an account with your name, major, gpa and then upload your resume.  This allows employers to look for you and for you to look for jobs.  You can put in your preferences for a job, job title, location, etc. and find your ideal job.

Bleeker Street

So I don't remember if I have blogged about Bleeker Street before, but I just want to reiterate what a great place to study it is.  It is in the library so it is calm, but you can talk in it so it has a little noise.  I know I cannot concentrate when it is silent so I love going to Bleeker Street.  Also they have the greatest food.  Think Panera, but better.  I love the California Turkey sandwich which is turkey on wheat bread with avocado, lettuce, tomato and ranch dressing, it is delicious.  They have all sorts of sandwiches, paninis, salads and soups.

Planning a Semi Formal

I am currently finishing planning theta's semi formal.  I am so nervous, I just have a feeling something is going to go wrong, and it is the eve of my 21st birthday, so I hope everything goes to plan.  I have a venue, it is call the University and Whist club in Wilmington.  It is a very old building, but very beautiful.  The driveway is very small so I have to have the busses drop us off on the corner and have the girls and their dates walk to the door.   The room was very inexpensive, so I have a feeling it was too good to be true.

Kids Don't Try This at Home

This morning I had the most unusual, out of character morning.  I am usually a go-getter in the morning, able to get up with ease and go do stuff.  Well this morning was another story.  I slept through my alarm at 6 30, to go to the gym before my class.  Then I didn't even go to the gym, or go to my class, not good.  I am a little disappointed in myself, because this is extremely out of character for me.  Each class equates to about $40, so if you skip a class, that is how much money is gone to waste, think about that.

HRIM Social

Last night was the HRIM social.  This has become and annual thing, so much fun! This year it was at the Christiana Hilton about 5 miles away, what a beautiful hotel.  This is one of the few times a year everyone in our major comes together to celebrate what a great major we are.  A few professors are the "chaperones" which really means they just want to party with their favorite students. WE all met at our friend Rosies house and got ready for the evening.  Then from there we walked to Perkins where the bus picks us up and took us to the social.

Maroon 5

Maroon 5 came to UD last night and I can honestly say it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to.  My friends were on the floor 11 rows back and I was on the side with my friends mom.  My friend Erin took all the tickets up to me so we could sneak down to the bottom and we didn't even sit in the chairs because once the concert started we ran towards the stage and we were about 5 people deep from the front.  The musicians in Maroon 5 are so talented! They sure do know how to put a show on.

Saute and Saucier 1

This week I was saute and saucier 1.  This means that I am out in the A la carte kitchen which is in the dining room so the guests can see you.  This side does all the fish and ravioli.  For the ravioli you have to boil the ravioli then make a sauce for the ravioli and then cook the ravioli in the butter sauce.  We have a salmon which you have to put in a basil, pine nut crust and then you pan sear it and then bake it.

Sorority Open House

These past 2 weeks have been different sorority open houses.  This means a sorority will open their house, or rent a room in trabant, for the girls who are interested in rushing a sorority.  You can go to 1 or you can go to all 9, it is just a chance for the girls to get to know the sororities before recruitment.  Our open house went extremely well.  Because we have our own house, we invited the girls to our house.  We bought snacks for the girls, but of course no one eats them.

Towing...

Seems like many places in Newark love to tow.  My roommate car got towed this evening while we were waiting to pick up my roommate.  When you work at the hotel you register your car there, but since our roommate didn't drive the car she didn't register.  We left the car for maybe an hour and it was gone, the hotel has towed it.  We called the towing company and we had to drive all around the area to find it.  We finally found it and no one was there.
